Geometry of Pasta
Geometry of Pasta is a cookbook written by critically acclaimed chef Jacob Kennedy and award-winning graphic designer Caz Hildebrand. A mass collection of Italian pasta shapes, the book’s primary aim is to maximize the surface area of the pasta’s shape and texture to how it is covered in a sauce.
The purpose of the app is to have the hundreds Italian pastas at a persons fingertips to easily search a recipe and its ingredients, save recipes and readily come back to favorites, and pair unique pasta shapes with beloved - and new - sauces. While the cookbook’s minimalist approach works for physical copies, I wanted to digitize the book, add a few accent colors to compliment the black and white, truly show the fun shapes of pasta, as well as add in interactive elements.

With a minimalist cookbook, I wanted to stay true to the very clean – black and white – aesthetic, but also incorporate a few pops of muted colors and close-up style photography of the pasta shapes.
